Parents Go To Pick Up Kids, Then See Bus Driver Has Locked Them All Inside

February 8, 2017

Arizona parents couldn’t believe it when they went to pick up their children from school: the bus driver had locked the kids inside the vehicle, according to a 2015 CBS News report. Surveillance footage shows the children crying out for help as angry parents try to open the locked door.

“See, your parents are getting upset,” the driver is seen saying on the clip. “You break that door, you’re going to be buying a new one. Your kid will get off the bus when I am done with ‘em.”

Nearly 40 children were reportedly inside the bus. As parents banged on the door, fearing what the driver would do, he suddenly got back behind the wheel and sped off.

CBS News reported that the driver alleged he kept the children inside because they were being loud and disruptive. Parents felt the punishment was cruel.

“He won’t let any of our kids out,” audio from father Adam Kautman’s 911 call revealed him saying. “The kids are crying. He’s screaming at us. He’s actually driving away with all our kids. He’s got all our kids on the bus.”

Fortunately, the driver merely took the kids back to Dysart Elementary School, where they were found unharmed. At the time of the incident, however, parents had no idea where the driver was going.

“I don’t know if he went crazy, was going to crash into something because the way he took off, he was speeding,” Adam said. “They’re responsible for the lives of all those children on the bus to get home safely, and he did the exact opposite of that.”

The bus driver was put on administrative leave, but decided to resign from the position.
