Woman Adopts 5-Week-Old Runt Of The Litter. One Year Later, She Can’t Believe What He Looks Like

February 6, 2017

When Freddy the Great Dane was born, he was the runt of the litter. He wasn’t successfully feeding from his mom, so his owner Claire Stoneman actually took him home early to care for him.

She also adopted Freddy’s sister, Fleur, and when they first came home, Freddy was only half the size of Fleur.

Both the puppies quickly started growing, and suddenly Freddy outgrew Fleur. Claire was surprised by how quickly Freddy was growing, but she assumed he would soon hit his adult height and stop growing.

Around 18 months, Fleur mostly stopped growing and Claire thought Freddy would stop too, but he didn’t. Freddy was growing almost one inch every week, and by the time he was 18 months old, he had not only outgrown Fleur, but had reached the same height as the world’s tallest dog, Zeus.

That’s right: Freddy went from runt of the litter to 7’4 (standing on his hind feet) at only a year and a half.

Now Freddy is four years old, and he was just awarded the Guinness World Record for being the world’s tallest dog.

Freddy measures in at 7’5.5 today!

Claire said she spends almost $125 on food every week just for Freddy. He eats at least four roast chickens each week.

Because Freddy’s so big, he’s a bit destructive — especially when he’s playing with Fleur.

He’s already destroyed at least twenty couches and completely taken over Claire’s home, but Claire says she wouldn’t have it any other way.
